Hydrogen Sulfide Removal from Industrial Gases Using Advanced, Modified Claus Technology
نویسنده
چکیده
A number of commercial processes are available for removing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from natural gas, tail gas from the Claus Process (containing un-reactive sulfur compounds, particularly CS2 and COS), coke-oven gas, pyrolysis gas and solution tail gas from heavy oil production. These processes are often limited by economics and technology. In the economic range from about 0.1 to 15 tons sulfur per day, a new process effects the Claus Reaction in a single (pressure) vessel, not unlike the conventional amine acid gas absorption tower. Sulfur is removed by cooling a slipstream, in the form of large crystals, where carbon dioxide is not absorbed, and water formed is carried out in the clean gas. This paper technically discusses this new, patented, sulfur purification process that offers clear advantages over current, conventional technologies.

Modeling and Removal of Hydrogen Sulfide from Biogas Produced by Anaerobic Digestion
Anaerobic digestion can be used to convert organic waste into energy not only to provide renewable energy, but also reduce greenhouse gases. During the anaerobic digestion process, biogas is produced, which can be used for heating and electricity generation. The produced biogas contains methane and some other gases, the most destructive of which is hydrogen sulfide gas. If hydrogen sulfide gas ...

Background: In this study, ferrate (VI) and ultraviolet (UV) radiation were employed to remove hydrogen sulfide from municipal wastewater resulting in a reduction in chemical oxygen demand (COD). Although ferrate (VI) and UV have been used individually for the removal of a few pollutants from urban and industrial wastewater, there exists no study to investigate the effectiveness of si...
متن کاملSulfur Recovery from Acid Gas Using the Claus Process and High Temperature Air Combustion (HiTAC) Technology
Sulfur-bearing compounds are very detrimental to the environment and to industrial process equipment. They are often obtained or formed as a by-product of separation and thermal processing of fuels containing sulfur, such as coal, crude oil and natural gas. The two sulfur compounds, which need special attention, are: hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and sulfur dioxide (SO2). H2S is a highly corrosive gas...
متن کاملRemoval of H2S and COD Using UV, Ferrate and UV/Ferrate from Municipal Wastewater
Background; The aim of this study is to compare UV, ferrate (VI) and UV/ferrate (VI) methods for removal of hydrogen sulfide and chemical oxygen demand (COD) from municipal wastewater under a continuous condition. Methods; The experiment was divided into three parts: 1) pollutants removal by using ferrate (VI) alone; 2) pollutants removal using UV alone; 3) pollutants removal using a combina...
متن کاملHydrogen sulfide removal from biogas using chemical absorption technique in packed column reactors
The toxicity and corrosion potential of hydrogen sulfide in raw biogas underlines the need for biogas purification. Several techniques available for removal of hydrogen sulfide from biogas are out of the reach for common end users due to lack of knowledge, higher running costs, and insufficient operational skills. The present experimental study aims to propagate hydrogen sulfide removal techniq...
